Estimated resident population of New Zealand

New Zealand's population is estimated to increase by one person every 15 minutes and 47 seconds.

This is based on the estimated resident population at 31 December 2011 and the following component settings. (Note: these settings are subject to change.)

  • one birth every 8 minutes and 19 seconds
  • one death every 19 minutes and 37 seconds
  • a net migration loss of one New Zealand resident every 2 hours, 47 minutes, and 55 seconds.

The population clock is based on the estimated resident population and does not correspond to the census night population count .
