This is based on the estimated resident population at 31 December 2011 and the following component settings. (Note: these settings are subject to change.)
- one birth every 8 minutes and 19 seconds
- one death every 19 minutes and 37 seconds
- a net migration loss of one New Zealand resident every 2 hours, 47 minutes, and 55 seconds.
The population clock is based on the estimated resident population and does not correspond to the census night population count .
