ANZSIC 2006 – industry classification

Introduction

The Australian and New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification (ANZSIC) was developed by Statistics New Zealand and the Australian Bureau of Statistics in the 1990s to reflect the structure of Australian and New Zealand industries and improve the comparability with other countries’ statistics. The 2006 update of this classification system updates the revisions made in 1993 and 1996.

ANZSIC 2006 is currently being integrated into Statistics New Zealand’s collections, with a number of releases using the ANZSIC system. These pages provide information about the classification and the implementation programme. Information papers will be added periodically to inform users about the impact of the changes on the industry-based statistics.
