The Building Consents Issued data includes the number, floor area, and value of new dwellings, and the floor area and value of non-residential buildings. The data is gathered from territorial authorities that issue building consents. The Building Work Put in Place data estimates the actual dollar value of building work done on residential and non-residential buildings. Information is gathered in a survey of construction work for which a building consent has been issued.
