Exploring ways to improve serious injury information in current data collections: Feedback report

Exploring ways to improve serious injury information in current data collections: Feedback report sets out the process undertaken by Statistics New Zealand to identify the shortcomings in the current data collections used to monitor and measure serious injury in New Zealand. It presents feedback from consultation with data users and producers. It also discusses ways that current data collections could be enhanced to provide richer information for research and policy-making purposes.

The consultation process indentified three key areas for improvement. The Injury Information Senior Officials Group (IISOG) recommended that the work programme for the next two years should focus on ensuring that the data collected provides the information we need to know about.

The report concludes with the next actions to be undertaken. This provides those working in the injury sector with a broad indication of how the suggested improvements to the current data collections will be progressed.
