Food prices fall

Highlights

 

In August 2009 compared with July 2009:

  • Food prices fell 0.9 percent.
  • Grocery food prices fell 1.3 percent.
  • Fruit and vegetable prices fell 3.3 percent.
  • Meat, poultry and fish prices fell 0.4 percent.
  • Restaurant meals and ready-to-eat food prices rose 0.3 percent.
  • Non-alcoholic beverage prices rose 1.0 percent.

From August 2008 to August 2009:

  • Food prices increased 4.6 percent.
